property FieldName: string;The name of the dataset field the column shows (case does not matter). In the Object Inspector it offers the fields of the grid’s dataset.
The first time a column gets a field name while its
Title.Caption
is empty, the caption is set to the field’s DisplayLabel
(its name when it has none); a caption set afterwards replaces it.
A column may have no field: its cells are empty unless an OnBeforeDrawCell
handler gives them a text or an icon, for example a value computed from
other fields of the row. A field name the dataset does not have also
shows empty cells. Such columns cannot be edited, sorted in a meaningful
way, or exported.
